Report from Tillamook, Oregon
June 16, 2010 Fishing report brought to you courtesy of Rob Russell: Spring salmon season is peaking now, and good fishing should last into mid-July. The 2010 season started off strong with some nice early catches, and since late May, the fishing has steadily improved. Abundant rainfall has kept the Trask and Wilson flowing strong, allowing salmon to move directly into rivers where bank anglers can get at them. This has not hampered success for trollers in the Bay, who consistently report excellent action from the jaws to Memaloose. Tidewater has also been productive for trollers and bobber fishermen. Summer steelhead started making a strong showing last week, and their numbers should ramp up over the next several weeks, continuing through the summer. With all the high water we've seen, it will be a great year for fishing the middle and upper reaches of Tillamook's rivers for salmon and steelhead. Here's my Dad with a super-chrome chinook caught last weekend on the Trask. Happy Father's Day, Papa!
