The Guide Shop’s humble beginnings began decades ago as a tackle shop along one of the best Steelhead Rivers in the Country. Pete Peterson, the owner, grew up as a young boy fishing the rivers with his father, and always dreamt of owning property along one of these beautiful rivers. Pete, bought a home along the Wilson River, and started out by guiding and selling a few lures out the house. Before he knew it, people were coming in from all over Western Oregon for guided trips and to buy his famous Salmon eggs and hand tied tackle. Eventually the store grew with time; even to the point of having a restaurant, River's Edge Grill, which is famous for the best clam chowder, fresh seafood entrees, half-pound gourmet burgers, homemade desserts, and the best smoked salmon. Our fabulous Manager and Head Chef, Toy McMahon, and our dedicated staff of Dinner Chef Barb, Breakfast Chef Margaret, Liz, Melissa, and Allison are eagerly waiting to assist you.

In 1999, we decided to publish a website so we could reach out to people across the country and share our excellent products and true love of fishing. As fishermen ourselves, we have an expert understanding of how important it is to make available the best products and services, which will yield the most enjoyable and productive fishing trip for you.

From the beginning we have been committed to research and development; our manufactured products have proven successful in not only ease of use and application, but in performance. Our salmon egg cures are guide tested and salmon approved. Keeping with the highest quality, all other non-manufactured fishing products that we carry, offer the very best in material and design.
